Annie was a student of mine for several years. My heart just broke to hear of her passing. I'm thinking about you and praying for you, Sharon, as you continue through life without Annie. I will always remember Annie as a happy young lady. She had such a great smile and loved those around her. Annie's friends and family were very important to her. I will always remember that sweet smile and her zest for life! I know Annie is swinging on the swings in heaven singing her favorite songs!

Sharon, We are praying for God to hold and love you more than ever during this time. I am so sorry that we lost Annie, but she is present with her heavenly Father, who has always known where she was and had His hand on her life. Now He has a real hand on her and is holding her close. Many prayers for you!

I am so grateful for knowing Annie and Sharon.  You both have taught me so much, and in so many ways.  I will never forget the joy and excitement Annie had every time she sang "Open the eyes of my heart Lord."  Having you both as friends " opened the eyes of my heart," and many others as well.  It will truly be a thrill for us all as one day very soon we will see one another in the place Jesus has prepared for us, our eternal home.  Until then my dear friend Annie, keep singing loudly so we can hear!

My first encounter with Annie was at Neuwoehner School about 8 years ago.  She was in Emily's classroom, and on the first day of school, Annie stood at the door waiting for all the kids and parents to arrive.  She worked the room like a politician, greeting everyone with, "Hi, how are you?  My name's Annie", and shaking hands with all.
Later in the school year, she began sending notes home with Emily, saying "Would you call me?"  She didn't know that Emily couldn't read the notes or make phone calls.  The notes arrived home in Emily's book bag every few days for three weeks.  I started to worry, picturing this poor girl waiting by the phone and Emily not calling.  So I made the call that changed our lives forever.
We became close friends with Annie and her mom, Sharon over time.  We celebrated birthdays, Easter, and shared life in general.  I was continually surprised and impressed by Annie's politeness, empathy for others, pride in her job and generosity.  I was also continually surprised by the trouble she could get into, including creating a facebook account for my husband without his knowledge!
Annie, I will miss you until the day I see you again in heaven.  Thank you for teaching me so much about what life is like for people with different abilities.xoxo

Sharon, you are a picture of grace and strength to all of us who have special children.  Together we will get through the grief and find happiness in the days God gives us.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief.  May your memories bring you comfort.
