Chris Garnita Simpkin - beloved matriarch, trendsetter, and role model passed peacefully on December 3, 2025. Chris will be remembered for her laugh, intelligence, sense of humor, encouragement, positivity, and love of our Heavenly Father. For 40 years, Chris was the proud wife of Hal D. Simpkin until his passing in 2019. She was also proceeded in death by her parents J. Earl and F. Laverne Christian and bonus children Tommy and Angela Simpkin.
She was a loving mother to Dave (Robin) and Bob (Laura) Busby, and bonus children Michele (Tom) Beger and Dave Simpkin. She is blessed with many grandchildren: Lisa (Todd), Brian (Mandi), Christy (Jeremy), Gregory, Rachel (Tony), Jim (Kristen), Dana (Vincent), Angie, Robert Jr, Mallory, Paul, and Katie, cherished great grandma of: Madilyn, Emma, Ian, Sophie, Brian Jr, Bradley, Benjamin, Brenden, Jaxson, Addison, T.J., Alyssa, Hailey, Kaylee, Jasper, Annora and Annie; dear sister to Dee Heisch, aunt and loyal friend to many.
Chris enjoyed a distinguished career, retiring from Graybar Electric after 20 years of service, following many successful years at Masters and Johnson. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Lindenwood University, impressively completing her studies while raising a family and working full-time. Chris had many passions, including travel, theatre, reading, music, poetry, storytelling, making people laugh, and spending time with loved ones. Chris and Hal journeyed across America exploring family history, and Chris compiled an impressive and well-documented genealogy. Throughout her life, she captured her adventures and family moments through photography - memories that will be cherished forever. Her warmth, humor, and love will be deeply missed.
She donated her body to St. Louis University.
A visitation will be held for Chris on Sunday, December 14, 2025 from 12:00 pm till 4:00 pm at Kriegshauser West Mortuary, 9450 Olive Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63132. Service will occur at 2:00 pm at the same location.
Memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, Mercy Hospice, or a charity of your choice will be appreciated.
