Ilene Litvag

Beloved wife of the late Irving R. Litvag; dear mother and mother-in-law of Julie Dyson (Larry) and Joe Litvag (Lisa); dear grandmother of Jakob Litvag, Isabella Dyson, and Jordan Litvag; dear daughter of the late Frieda Olian Gallop and the late Philip Gallop; dear sister and sister-in-law of the late Don Gallop (late Susie); dear sister-in-law of the late David Litvag (late Aarolyn); our dear aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

Ilene grew up in University City, MO and was a proud graduate of the U. City School District. She was adored by her parents, Frieda and Philip Gallop, and by her elder brother Don. Ilene attended University of Texas in Austin – she loved Texas and Greek life there. Later, Ilene met Irv Litvag on a blind date in December 1960. Immediately afterwards, she knew he was the one. They married in June 1962 and were together for a wonderful 43 years until he passed in 2005.

Ilene treasured family and friends. Her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren were her world and all felt her unwavering, unconditional love. Throughout her life, Ilene remained close with many of her cousins, nieces and nephews, and extended family spread across the country. Ilene cherished her countless friendships, many extending back to childhood.

Later in life she was blessed to have met Don Roth, who became her closest companion for more than 15 years until his passing in 2023. She worked as an office administrator at Allergy Consultants for over 20 years. At various times in her life, Ilene passionately volunteered for: Life Seekers; the USO; Shaare Emeth; NCJW’s Wife, Widow, Woman Program; the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry; Autism Speaks and Coeur Academy. Ilene was truly grateful for all of her blessings.

Funeral Service Friday, March 13 at 2 PM at Congregation Shaare Emeth, 11645 Ladue Road. The family will not receive friends prior to the service. Private interment follows. Memorial contributions preferred to Coeur Academy, 9348 Olive Blvd, Olivette, MO 63132 or Congregation Shaare Emeth.
