

James George Trost, a devoted family man and respected member of his community, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, in St. Charles, Missouri, at the age of 92. Born on May 24, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri, James lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love.
James honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, where he completed five years of active duty. His commitment to service continued as he returned in 1961 to serve in the Missouri Air National Guard, dedicating an additional 32 years to his country's defense.
For 38 years, James was the proud owner of Olympic Sporting Goods, where he combined his passion for sports with his entrepreneurial spirit. His love for community involvement was evident through his dedicated 23-year tenure as an Alderman of Dellwood.
James found great joy in watching and betting on horse races, a pastime he enjoyed throughout his life. Above all, he was a cherished patriarch, deeply committed to his family.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Walter and Edith Trost, and his brothers, Eugene, George, and Charles Trost. He is also preceded by his grandson, Kevin Eagan.
James leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his wife of 65 years, Margaret Trost; his children, Stephen Trost (Julie), Michael Trost (Kelly), and Christine Eagan (Shawn); and his grandchildren, Tess, Kyle (Ashley), Victoria (Zachary), Conor (Julianne), and Jack. He was blessed with great-grandchildren Cayden, Blakely, Brody, Camryn, and Leo. James is also survived by his brothers Thomas Trost (Marie), Walter Trost (Carol), Alan Trost (Elna), and his sister-in-law Veda Trost.
His presence will be profoundly missed by his family and friends, who will remember him for his unwavering dedication and the warmth he brought into their lives.
