Jane Goode, 82, passed away peacefully on Mon., April 10, at home with her family. A gracious and generous person, she took an interest in the people around her and made the world a kinder place through her gentle presence.
Jane graduated from Kirkwood High School and the University of Missouri–Columbia, where she was a member of Tri Delta sorority. After graduating, she taught elementary school until the birth of her first child, when she became a full-time mom. Later, she returned to education, working for Parents as Teachers and tutoring through Oasis.
Jane loved spending time outdoors, including countless hours tending her backyard gardens and a lifetime of hiking, floating, tennis, and cycling with her husband, children, and friends.
Beloved wife of the late Missouri legislator Wayne Goode, daughter of the late Thomas G. and Viola (Lindemann) Bell, she is survived by her children, Peter W. Goode III (Jeannette), and Jennie Goode (Kristin Pula), Seattle, and grandchildren Alex and Carolyn Goode; her sister, Jackie (Bell) Wilhelm (the late Kenneth), Lakeland, Fla.; her sisters-in-law, Linda (Goode) Wilson (George), and Nora (Goode) Casey; and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Jane’s family is grateful to the many people who supported and cared for her over the past few years. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Whole Kids Outreach or Meds & Food for Kids.
