

Johnson, Joseph Richard, 88, entered into glory Saturday night, March 22, 2015 at the home of his son Michael, 3960 Wright Ave, St. Ann, MO. He was born Dec. 22, 1926 to Joseph & Gertrude (nee Aut) Johnson.
He served in the Navy as a firefighter during WWII aboard the SS Kimberly. He served from 1944-1947. He retired after 33 years as a steel worker from Continental Can. In his earlier years he enjoyed boxing, hunting, bowling, pool and fishing. Joe was a native of St. Louis but loved the outdoors and so spent the past 30 years on ten acres in Hawk Point with his second wife Wray Huyler. They were married June, 25, 1986. He was a member of the VFW Post 8828 in Troy, MO. He and his wife enjoyed Bingo at the Senior Center in Troy. He attended Zion Lutheran Church in Maryland Heights.
He was preceded in death by his three sisters Ruth, Gertrude and Ruby. He is survived by his wife Wray Huyler; daughter Sharon Farwell, sons Joseph (Susie) Johnson, Daniel (Jim Taranto) Johnson and Michael (Lori) Johnson; grandchildren Joseph, Tammy, Seth, Ramon, Andrew, Joshua, Jeremy and Jacob; 15 great grandchildren.
Memorial will be held on Saturday, April 25th at 11:00 at Zion Lutheran Church, 12075 Dorsett Rd, Maryland Heights, MO 63043. A luncheon will follow after the service in the Fellowship Hall located in the church basement.
