

Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Antonia (nee Rosales)
Lopez. Dear father of Deborah (the late Doug) Johnson Hlad, Wesley
(Sue) Lopez, and Sherry (Jack) Mosley. Dear grandfather of Kelly
(John) Couteranis, Scott (Meghan) Johnson, Amy and Annie Lopez,
and Samuel Mosley. Dear great-grandfather of Sophia and Leah
Couteranis. Our dear brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. Joe
served as a Private First Class, 6th Armored Infantry rifleman in the
Army during World War II and was wounded in action in Anzio, Italy.
He received the European African Middle Eastern Ribbon, Bronze
Battle Star, and Purple Heart for his actions. After receiving an
Honorable Discharge from the service, Joe worked as a technician in
the dental lab industry before opening his own dental laboratory. He
later worked for and retired from Southern Illinois University School of
Dental Medicine. Joe was an active member of St. Simon the Apostle
Catholic Church during his children's school age years. The funeral
service will be conducted in the chapel of Hoffmeister South County
Chapel Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. The interment will follow
with full Military Honors in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Place
