Lois Simpson

Lois Simpson, age 93, of Saint Louis, Missouri passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023. She was born August 8, 1929 in Bonicord, Tennessee to the late Clint Hopper and Effie (nee Brassfield). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Fletcher Gill, her husband, Ray Simpson, a sister, Dale Lovins, and a grandson, David Simpson.

Lois leaves behind her son, Larry (Sue) Simpson, her grandson, Brian (Jacki) Simpson. She was a beloved great-grandmother to Jeffrey (Cody Anno), Ray, Jane, Kate, and David. Lois is also survived by a special sister-in-law, Carolyn (Art) McDonald, who she raised as a daughter, her nieces and nephews; Sandy (Randy) Ray, Art (Melissa) McDonald, Lauren (John) Hankley, Randy II (Flora Mae) Ray, Jerry (Shirley) Thompson, Danny (Nita) Thompson, and many Tennessee nieces and nephews, also her great nieces and nephews; Emma, Charlie, Abigail, and Courtney, and a very special friend, Sandy Rasch. She had many friends, and was a well-loved member of the Joy Club.

Lois was a woman of faith and proudly volunteered as a greeter at Life Christian Church, today known as LIFECHURCH. She had quite the collection of lapel pins, buttons, and patches. Lois was very structured around meal times. She believed in three square meals prepared and scheduled appropriately throughout the day. In later years, Lois and Ray spent every day they could enjoying lunch at the local Applebee’s at 11:15 AM sharp.

A visitation for Lois will be held Friday, April 21, 2023 from 8:30 AM to 10:15 AM at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, MO 63125, followed by a funeral service at 10:15 AM. Lois will be laid to rest with her beloved, Ray at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan, St. Louis, MO 63125.
