Kriegshauser; dearest mother of Catherine (Michael) Kohn, Patti (Chris) Haffner, Sheila (Gerry) Ricken, and Ellen (Jim and the late David Norburg) Flood, and the late Mary Elizabeth Kriegshauser and Joan (Jeffrey) Teckman; dear grandmother of Lauren Davis, Liza (Todd) Chollet, Jessica Kohn, Chris (Emily) Haffner, Jenna (Aaron) Breidegam, Barbie Ricken, Heidi (Stephen) Provost, William Ricken, Matt (Michele) Norburg, Casey (Donnie) Christener, Molly Norburg, Nate and Nina Teckman, and the late Mary Beth Ricken; dear great grandmother of Olivia and Paige Davis, Lillian and Georgia Chollet, Dylan Breidegam, Parker, Mia, and Berkley Haffner, Ellie and Luke Norburg, Caroline, Grace, Emma, Margaret Christener, and Luna Breidegam; Our dear aunt, sister-in-law, cousin and friend to many.
Mary Ann was proud of her childhood in Valley Park. The nuns at Academy of the Sacred Heart were instrumental in building her strong education and Catholic faith. She then attended Maryville College, earning a degree in Elementary Education. This would serve her well in raising her 6 daughters in the years to come. She believed strongly in faith, education (and politics!).
At a Catholic Singles dance, she met a dashing young man who swept her off her feet. Bob Kriegshauser was unlike anyone else she had met, and his great car solidified the deal. Right away, they knew this was it, and married a few days after Mary Ann's graduation. They moved to Seattle with the Army, and soon thereafter welcomed Cathy. When Bob's time in the service was completed, they returned to St. Louis for good. By the time they were married 8 years, they had their 6 girls. Mary Ann was fiercely proud of her family, whether it was her children, their spouses, grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. She had a lot of fun with the grandkids when they were growing up, a wonderful legacy for them.
She and Bob enjoyed history and travelled extensively once they reached retirement. Those worldly trips gave them wonderful memories and endless stories to tell. She loved to buy gifts for her family on these trips, and amassed quite a few treasured possessions as well. Her loss of Bob earlier this year was a hardship that was impossible to overcome. We feel sure she was greeted by Bob and the many beloved family members who left this world before her.
God granted Mary Ann a long, full life. Her intellect and memory were outstanding right to the end, a true gift. Well done, Mary Ann ~ you've left an imprint on the heart of so many.
