Born on August 19, 1933, in Vicksburg, Mississippi to the late Brooks and Moserine Tillman (nee Davis).
Dear sister to Mary Maxwell; dear aunt, Cousin and Friend.
Mona moved from Mississippi to St. Louis in 1952. She worked as an open heart and neuro-surgical nurse at SLU Hospital for 40 years.
Growing up across the street from a veterinarian clinic, she started working for the vet at the age of 12 and eventually assisted him during his surgical procedures on dogs and cats. This marked the beginning of her surgical interest and experience.
Mona was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church in Maplewood for many years. Mona volunteered as an usher, served as a volunteer secretary for five years, and was the president of the Leisure Club for three years.
She’s also an active volunteer in the community. Mona served as a board member of the St. Louis Senior Center for three years and tutored first graders at the Maplewood Early Childhood Center for four years. Additionally, she was a transportation volunteer for CORP (County Older Residents Program) for five years and briefly led an exercise class at “Women’s Place.”
Mona is a member of the “Red Hats” and enjoyed golf whenever she could. She also takes classes in Zumba, Line Dancing, and Ballroom Dancing. Mona is an inspiration for active aging and firmly believes that “You’ve got to keep moving.”
Visitation for Mona will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, form 10:00 AM until time of funeral service at 12:00 PM, at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road,
