To Esta and all of Rich’s family,  you have my heartfelt condolences in your loss. Sorry I did not learn Rich had passed until very recently. I liked Rich and respected him as a coworker and for his strong sense of family. He made people smile. Rich was a real joy to be around, a mans man. May God Rest his soul.

I knew Richard when I was married to Esta’s cousin, Randy Coakley.  
Richard was a hoot, he loved joking around and boy was he a teaser. He was always looking for an opportunity to have a good laugh even if it was at your expense. 
I remember our visits to their home in St. Louis and how welcome they made me feel, eating at Jack and Phil’s, and the vacation in Dallas. Always a good time with Richard and Esta. 
My condolences to the entire family. I know he will be missed. Richard was special to so many, including me.

Our Family Reunion will never be the same without Rich. He has been a big part of our family for 62 years and I personally never had a need for help of any kind that Rich was not always there as soon as he could get there

Many pleasant memories of days on bikes and sleds and occasional rides from Arnold to CCHS  and back in his first car with his favorite Country music on the radio and his well used steering wheel spinner.   He liked to drive.
Also remembering his first real job working at the Lik M Aid production facility in South St. Louis and the good smells after his work time.
My sympathy to Esta and family and to the many siblings that I remember from grade / high school and visits to the house down the hill from St. John's  in Arnold.  Sorry too for all of the missed years as we married and raised our families and went our separate ways.
 

Some thirty years ago, I was talked into going to a family reunion in Missouri. With my bad attitude, I didn't really want to meet any of the people there, I didn't really want to go. Reluctantly, I went. I met Rich and all the others and I started great journey which meant that every year I had to drive thousands of miles just to spend a few days with these people. Thirty years have passed and I'm happy to say that Rich became a very good friend of mine. I was lucky to have met him. He made us all laugh and sometime talked our ears off.  Rich and I have kayaked many miles together, sat and talked for hours sharing many tall tales, and ate many, many meals together. I will miss Rich! He was a good friend! 

PS: and the rest of those people in Missouri, I hope to be able to see them for the rest of my life.
