

Semyon was born in Pylyava, Ukraine on May 15, 1937 to Yevgenia and Isaac Khariton. He graduated from Chernivtsi Medical School. During a visit to Kishinev, Moldova he met Ilana and shortly thereafter they were married. He moved to Kishinev and was a practicing doctor for more than 40 years, notably as a pediatric ENT surgeon. Ilana and Semyon remained married for over 58 years.
He was a dedicated son, husband, father and grandfather. He prided himself in setting an example for those around him, and was always a caring, loving, smart, and supportive person. He helped create better opportunities for his family by leading the effort to immigrate to the United States in 1992. Shortly after coming to America, Semyon persevered to find a position with the League For The Hard of Hearing in NYC. He loved his job, and it gave him great satisfaction to continuously help others in his second career.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids and enjoyed traveling the world. He will be dearly missed and remembered by his family and friends.
Semyon’s Funeral is Monday August 28, 10 AM at Berger Memorial Chapel, 9430 Olive Blvd. 63132. Interment following at Beth Shalom Cemetery, 650 White Rd. 63017. Memorial contributions preferred to Evelyn’s House Hospice
