The only child of Louis and Claire Adèle (Merker) Silberman, she was extremely close with her Hungarian grandmother, Rosa Silberman, and everything she learned from her would prove so important to her future. Sharon’s beloved husband, Joseph Kiss, was Hungarian, and together they visited Hungary 21 times during their marriage. Sharon embraced Hungarian culture, from the language and traditions to the food and music.
Sharon earned her BA in Education from Washington University and her MA in Education at Webster University. From 1961-1991, she taught kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades in the Ritenour School District. She was a life-long learner and loved classical music. Her talent for piano was a gift passed down by her mother. As for her father, she was the absolute apple of his eye. She was a wife, stepmother, daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and dear friend. Sharon was elegant, radiant, and deeply proud of her Silberman and Merker heritage.
She will be missed. May her memory forever be a blessing.
A funeral service will be held at Berger Memorial Chapel, 9430 Olive Blvd. in Olivette, on Monday, March 2nd, at 11:30 AM, with interment to follow at St. Paul Churchyard, 7600 S. Rock Hill Rd. in Affton.
In lieu of flowers, Sharon asked that contributions be made in her name to the charity of choice.
