Jania, Sophia at the age of 69, was fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church on Sunday, June 19, 2011. She was born on March 12, 1942 in Poland. As a young child during WWII, she moved with her family to the United States. Sophia resided most of her life in Long Island, New York and called Chesterfield, Missouri her home for the last 10 years. She was an active member of St. Anselm Parrish and an Oblate of St. Louis Abbey. Loving mother of Michael Urciuoli (wife Elaine), Joan Urciuoli (husband Richard Adams), and Steven Urciuoli (wife Janet); beloved grand- mother of Kevin Ortiz-Urciuoli, Michael Louis and Nicholas Urciuoli. She is survived by her sister Janina Jania and preceded in death by her parents Pauline and John Jania, and brothers Stanislaus Klaus and Francis Frank Jania. Services: A memorial Mass is scheduled for Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 8:45 a.m. in St. Anselm Parrish at the Abbey Church, 500 S. Mason Rd. Reception to follow memorial Mass in the Monastery.
