He was born July 1, 1931 in St. Louis, MO to Francis and Florence George. Tom married his loving wife, Jeannette Hamilton on May 12, 1956. They were blessed with seven children.
Tom, known by his family as “Popo” was a true family man. He was a wonderful brother, husband, dad and father-in-law, but above all else he was an incredible grandfather. He adored his grandchildren and took great pride in their accomplishments, big or small. Tom’s best friends were his lifelong friends, and he was blessed with many. He had a personality that could light up any room, his twinkling smile and incredible story telling captivated everyone. Tom was an avid outdoorsman and would take any opportunity to hunt or fish. Many summer nights you could find Tom, with his family or friends, behind home plate taking in a Cardinal game.
Tom Graduated from Chaminade College Preparatory school in 1951 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Upon discharge from the Navy, Tom returned to St. Louis and began working for his family company, The P.D. George Company. Tom was the third generation to enter into the family business and slowly climbed the ranks, retiring in the early 2000’s as President. Under his leadership The P.D. George Company grew into the country’s largest company in its industry. Tom’s dedication, hard work and compassion were evident to all who worked with him throughout his long career with the company.
Tom’s family is comforted knowing that he is in heaven reunited with those who have gone before him including his parents, Francis and Florence George; his wife, Jeannette Hamilton George; his children, Chris George and Karen George Schwab; his sister, Patricia George; and brothers, Jack, Francis, and Martin George.
