Tsighe was born on October 28, 1924, in Tukul, Eritrea, and later made Long Beach her home, where she lived for almost 50 years. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, and pillar of her community. Known for her boundless generosity, sharp wit, and tremendous perseverance, Tsighe touched every life she encountered with humor and warmth.
She worked first as a midwife and nurse, where she cared deeply for her patients, and then, served gracefully beside her husband, the ambassador of Ethiopia, over twenty years and multiple continents. Outside of work, she was a lover of Western films, an excellent cook, and an active member of her church, always ready to lend a helping hand or word of wisdom.
Tsighe had four children—John, David, Telma and Scinder—three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren whom she loved. She also had four sisters, one brother, a host of beloved nieces and nephews, and many dear friends who were like family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mankin Logan, and her parents, Okbasghi and Mahanzel.
The family would like to thank Tsighe’s many caretakers who brought light into her life, as well as the staff at Missouri Baptist Medical Center for their loving care and support.
She lived with kindness, served with love, and leaves behind a legacy of strength, laughter, and unwavering faith.
