
Walter Lemann, III passed away in Montgomery County, Maryland on May 19, 2023, at the age of 69. He was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the beloved only child of Walter Lemann, Jr. and Gertrude Minsk Lemann. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Saybrook College of Yale University and his medical degree from Tulane University. He was a dedicated son, husband, father, grandfather, physician, public servant, and community member. He practiced neurology in St. Louis, Missouri for almost thirty-five years, over twenty-five years in private practice and the remainder of his career at the Veterans Administration. He was an Associate Professor of Neurology at Washington University School of Medicine. He had wide-ranging interests and hobbies, including photography, music, art, international travel, and cooking. He is survived by his devoted wife of forty-seven years, Susan Gibbs Lemann, and his children, Dr. Eva Lemann Moses (Isaac), Carol Lemann Lazar (Tuvia), Rabbi Samuel Lemann (Sarah), and Nathaniel Lemann. He was the beloved grandfather of Raphael, Ilana, Abigail, and Asher Moses; Eliyahu, Rachel, and Binyamin Amiel Lazar; and Mordechai, Hadassah, and Molly Jean Lemann.
