David Herrick (Rick) Mathews

MATHEWS, David Herrick 68, of Treasure Island, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Kindred Hospital of St Petersburg. David was born Nov. 16, 1947 in Cleveland, OH to Harry and Ruth Madeline (Herrick) Mathews. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University in 1969. David moved to this area in 1980 coming from Parma, OH. David retired from Terminix as a Commercial Manager. He was an active member of the Paradise Lutheran Church in Treasure Island serving on the church Council and as an Usher. David loved the beach and boating and was an avid sports fan and loved the Tampa Bay Rays and the Tampa Bay Lighting. He was a man with a good heart who would help anyone who was in need. He will be sorrowfully missed by all who knew and loved him. David is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Carol Ann Mathews of Treasure Island along with his mother, Ruth Madeline Mathews of Largo. He was predeceased by his father, Harry Mathews and a brother, Jack Wayne Mathews and a sister, Hilda Ruth Stoner. Friends are calling Friday, April 15, from 5-7 pm at Beach Memorial Chapel, 301 Corey Ave., St. Pete Beach, 727-360-5577. Floral contributions or donations to Paradise Lutheran Church may be offered. Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 16, at 11 am at Paradise Lutheran Church, 10255 Paradise Blvd., Treasure Island. Burial will be held in Hope Memorial Gardens in Hinckley, OH.
