

Rosemary Matzzie Westerman passed away on June 2, 2015 at Palms of Pasadena Hospital in South Pasadena, Fl. She was born on May 20, 1949 in Sewickley, Pa. She attended Ambridge High School and later attended Duquesne University where she received a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s in adult education. She married Philip Westerman on August 7, 1971 at Christ the King Church in Ambridge, Pa. Rosemary was employed at Sewickley Hospital School of Nursing as an instructor, St John’s Hospital in Pittsburgh as an in service education director, Veteran’s Hospitals in Milwaukee, Wi, Madison Wi, Chillicothe, Oh, Augusta, Ga; Muskogee, Ok and Leeds, Ma as an education coordinator and a director for patient services and at the VA central headquarters in Washington, D.C. as a nurse investigator for the office of the medical inspector. Rosemary was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Society, the Board of certification for nursing administration; multiple honorary professorship at nursing school affiliated with veteran’s administration; patient advisory board for North side Hospital in St Petersburg, Fl and a member of the US Power of Squadron. Rosemary enjoyed cooking and baking, had a passion for gardening but most of all, she took great pride in her work mentoring people who showed the desire to advance and better their self and the job at hand, but most of all she loved serving and helping all the veterans who serve our country. Rosemary is survived by her husband, Philip Westerman; sister n law Nika Matzzie; niece Colette Rosenburg, husband Daniel and three children; nephew Joseph Matzzie; nephew Thomas Matzzie, wife Claire and 2 children; brother n law Frank Westerman Jr and wife Ginny; niece Jill Levesque, husband Jeff and 3 children; brother n law, Randy Westerman; nephew John Westerman and wife Sheri; brother n law David Westerman and wife Judy; nephew Chris Westerman; niece Charlene Wifall, husband Kris and 2 children; mentor and best friend Alice DeSantis. Rosemary was preceded in death by father Joseph Mattzie; mother Martha Matzzie; sister Jeanette Matzzie; brother Donald Matzzie; father-in-law Frank Westerman Sr; mother-in-law Theresa Westerman; sister-in-law Justine Gaule Westerman and nephew Gregory Westerman. There will be a Celebration of Rosemary’s life on Saturday, June 13th at 11:30 AM at Beach Memorial Chapel, located at 301 Corey Ave, St. Pete Beach, Fl 33706.
