Bobby Glen Curtis, 86, was born on November 1, 1933 in Edgewood, Texas and went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 23, 2019. Bobby was the eldest son of William and Della Curtis and was a graduate of Centennial High School in Pueblo, Colorado.
Bobby worked for Southern Pacific Railroad in Texas as a locomotive fireman prior to enlisting in the United States Navy in 1953 where he became a radio operator and flew all over the South Pacific and the world. After his 4 years in the Navy, Bobby joined the United States Air Force and spent the next 16 years on various domestic and overseas assignments during which time he met Marilyn Jean Tammeus while stationed in Harlingen, Texas and they were married in 1959. Bobby was a great bowler and he and Marilyn enjoyed bowling together where they won several individual and couple’s tournaments. Bobby concluded his military service in 1973 as a Technical Sergeant (TSgt) while stationed at Chanute AFB in Illinois.
In 1973, he moved his family to Corpus Christi where he worked in private sector. The family later moved to Houston in 1977 where Bobby started a new career as a production supervisor for an oil field tool manufacturer. In 1993 Bobby made the decision to fulfill a dream of becoming a police officer where he became the oldest person to go through the Gus George Law enforcement Academy in Richmond, Texas at the youthful age of 59. Bobby was commissioned as a Texas peace officer and went to work for Harris County as a deputy constable with Precinct 5 and later transferred to Precinct 1 before ending active duty in 2004. Bobby became a reserve deputy in 2004 until he finally retired as Captain in 2012.
Bobby was a very strong, humble, loving, and giving man with an endearing personality. As a deputy he frequently walked people’s dogs for them, watched their houses while they were on vacation, and kept up with several of the neighborhood kids and help keep them out of trouble. He was also a beloved father of six children and devoted husband who provided selfless care to his disabled wife Marilyn until her passing in 2017. Bobby loved his family deeply and loved being a deputy Constable and he will be sorely missed by many.
