Clyde was born in Houston on October 3, 1950. He attended The University of Texas where he met the love of his life, Bernadine Slomchinski. They shared 41 years of marriage which has included everything from the struggle of graduate school to the joy of becoming grandparents.
Clyde enjoyed bird hunting and fishing (especially for Alaskan salmon and trout!) as well as telling stories and smoking brisket. What he loved most was bearing witness to the joy a family can share. From dance recitals to Boy Scout campouts to road trip vacations and grandkid games, he was a man who strived to always provide the best and to be there for his family. Through every aspect of his life, he was a man who cherished his wife. He has been a role model in so many ways.
Clyde was a sincere and fiercely loyal man, traits that benefitted his family, his friends, and his coworkers. He worked as CFO and Senior Vice President at Associated Pipe Line Contractors where he served since 1986. Whatever the task may be, he always gave his best effort. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of the Methodist Medical Center ICU team who showed a similar loyalty to Clyde both in attempting a cure and in honoring his wishes.
He is survived by his mother Ellouise Fowler of Houston, his loving wife Bernie Fowler of Richmond, daughter Jennifer (Patrick) Easter of Austin, son Sam (Jeana) Fowler of Tomball, grandchildren David and Amanda Easter and Ryan and Lauren Fowler, sister Margaret (Tom) Hamilton of Montgomery, and sister Cherí (Jeff) Crozier of Austin. Survivors also include brothers and sisters-in-law Bernard (Joan) Austin of San Antonio, Mary Vetters of Austin, Dottie Naeole of Hilo, and Dolores (Sonny) Manley of Missouri City. Clyde is also survived by numerous cousins and beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Elmer Fowler.
