To the Govea Family, I am sorry for your loss.. Specifically to Chris and Ruben who may not remember me. 

I lived in Missouri city for a very short time in the early 80’s, then my family left abruptly. I remember not looking back but occasionally over the years, reminiscing about my then good friend Chris, and how accommodating and hospitable Connie and Ruben were towards me. Memories are vague, but I recall food and the love of their music, on records(Van Halen comes to mind).

To Chris, remember the Chuck Taylor’s with fat laces.. in a checker pattern? Or your neighbor, Cliff.. or Hitesh, Charlie and Dean?

Anyways, much love to all the fam. Prayers to Connie. And something I didn’t get to say to a friend over 30 years ago, goodbye and take care.





    For as long as we have known Connie she was always one we could look up to in times of needed help. Her official title at church  was Liturgy Coordinator but she was much more than that.  In her  busy involvement at Holy Family she touched people of all ministries and cultures.
    For many years she and Ruben coordinated our church Fall Festival. They and 3 or 4 other couples, we ran the Bazar Raffle ticket sales with successful results for our parish.
    Two things she became known to us for were:  One,  at the valentine dances she got Carmen and a few other ladies up to do Line Dance - she was good !
     The other was, she studied Spanish because she wanted to speak Spanish to Carmen, whom she called “Mi Amiga”.  Carmen would always say to her “my English is not too good looking”.
     We will miss her cheerful smiles and a great friend.  We hope she puts in a good word for us in her new. “Home”.

I’m truly thankful to have been blessed to have known and call Connie Govea my friend . I and my family will miss her presence in our church family and my family . And yes Connie had away about her that was not only spiritual but humble .Thank you Connie for  all the laughs and for allowing me to rub Ruben’s belly when we would go to the casino for good luck.  Love you forever and until we meet again .  

My aunt Connie was a very special woman. She was a servant of God and it showed through her actions and daily life. Although we didn’t get to see our aunt often, she was always present through our postings on Facebook,  her comments, her photos, her likes, they all made us feel close to her.  It was like she was with us daily, interacting with us, wishing us happy birthdays and anniversaries and conversing with us over social media. This was how we shared in her life. 
Aunt Connie was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother, she was loved by everyone and leaves a big void in our lives. We’ll miss you aunt  Connie but we’ll meet again, until then Rest In Peace.

Connie and Ruben were my first friends after moving to Houston almost 35 years ago.  I can remember the many times they invited me over to their home and enjoying each others friendship and her good cooking.  She made you feel as if you were part of her family and was very proud of her sons Chris, Andrew and her grandchildren.  She is in heaven now, but I am fortunate to still have the happy memories of our friendship.

This is so sad but God will lift her straight up to her heavenly home. An she will be so missed but her star will shine brightly for us to see. Love to You Ruben

Ate Connie was a great loving, caring person I ever known. She was one of our family best supporters when our eldest son joined our Heavenly Father 2 years ago.

She was an active member of our Filipino group and Jesus, the Black Nazarene Ministry at Holy Family Catholic Church. 

To Kuya Ruben, Ate Connie always thought of you even if she was our scheduled meeting with our group. She made sure she can bring food to share with you. She is just that thoughtful.

Ate Connie, please say hello to our son, Randy when you meet him in heaven. Thank you for sharing your earthly life with us

Bert and I are deeply shocked and saddened on your untimely passing. We can not believe you are no longer with us. Your countless friends are mourning. Your presence was everywhere. You will be greatly missed but your legacy will live forever - your sweetness, kindness, thoughtfulness, talent are just few to mention. Also you made our job easier because of your quick actions and suggestions. Rest in Peace our dear friend and may God's perpetual light shines upon you. We love you.

I met Mrs. Govea through Troop 1003. My oldest son could not stop talking about the Govea's. They had a wonderful relationship and showed so much love and compassion while teaching the boys to be responsible caring young men. She touched the heart of my entire family. I know she is in a better place, but she will be missed. RIP Connie.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my good friend Connie Govea. Some of the fondest memories I have are when my family lived in Missouri City, and Connie and Ruben were our best friends. As a small child, Chris taught me just how much fun it would be to be a dad. And Andrew came along and was such a fun baby to hang out with! To this day, I miss the fun times I had with the Govea family. Either having parties at their place or ours, or going out to play pool or see a movie. Connie was an extremely kind, warm, loving and giving woman and an incredibly awesome human being.  God needed an angel and he sure got one. May the Lord Bless her soul, and her husband Ruben, and her awesome sons Chris and Andrew. The time will come when you will be re- united with her.

Connie will be missed by  many!  Connie and I worked for Albert Kaufman & Co  over 30 years ago; we remained friends even when she ventured to a new job;  a lady full of love and energy.   Rest In Peace my dear friend!  You are loved ! 

Moving from Kauai to Houston was a challenge for us, however  Cousin Connie and Rueben was there for us to help us get settled.  We will not forget your brisket, Mexican rice (still make it to this day)  and you taught me to make “cancanen” in the rice cooker instead of slaving over the stove!  Great memories. 
We ask the Lord to bless Rueben, Chris, Andrew and Ohana with strength and guidance as you all where the pride and joy of her life.

Joe and I are saddened to hear that Ms Connie has gone to her heavenly home. Ms Connie was able to make everyone feel special. We had the pleasure of working with her in Boy Scout Troop 1003 at Holy Family. Ruben, Chris and Andrew please know that we are thinking of you and will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. 


Connie and I goes a long way back , more than 30 yrs. ago when her son Andrew and my son Jeremy were classmates at Glover Elementary School.  A good friend and neighbor coz we live around the same area.  A fully dedicated person to her family and church. We will miss her , our sister in The Filipino Community and Jesus, the Black Nazarene ministry.  Now she can show her hands to our creator, Lord Jesus Christ, a life well- lived , a life where she gave all her time, talent and treasure.

Dearest Ruben and Govea Family,
Our family is deeply saddened by the loss of Connie. She was such a caring and friendly person to us. She was always smiling and she never seemed to mind sharing her time and talents with the church or anyone. We will be praying for you and your family.

Where can I start to speak of such an amazing friend.  She was always there to help her friends and the Church at anytime.  She was a busy body with so much fuel and energy.  She was very passionate of husband Ruben and her family she spoke so highly of them all.  Most of all I will miss how out spoken she was never had a filter and always spoke her mind 💙. Secondly I will miss all her Facebook post of all the delicious food she would eat and the amazing places she would visit.  
You will truly be missed but never forgotten, the Morales family loves you so much.
And we will continue to look after Ruben your main concern. 

Connie has touch the hearts and lives of many including me. Introducing me to delicious taste of Holy Family's many food choices, Filipino is the yummiest!  To making changing missilets easy.  She was among the first to learn of my cancer and among the first to know it was cured. She prayed for me every day.  Connie's love extends beyond all her family and friends. Her love is for all of Holy Family Parish and her presence. made a difference in many lives. I will miss her forever. 

Connie was very patient!  At every big celebration at church she would come in at her pace.  She managed to do so much and the celebration was a success.  
I will miss her at the Liturgy Committee Meetings.  She would bring the best (yummy) egg sandwiches.
I pray her heavenly mansion is next to Eva's.  I can just hear Eva 
ask Connie in her broken English, "You following me?"  
Yes, we have two angles from Liturgy watching after Holy Family!
Miss you very much and someday we will meet again.

Connie always helped anyone in need.  She and her husband Ruben recently helped Guadalupe Society with a fundraising event.  She was not even a member.  She also proclaimed the Word at our 50th wedding anniversary Mass, and when I asked for another favor to help check in guests at the reception, she immediately said "yes, of course."  And all this with a smile on her face. Connie will be greatly missed. 

I feel blessed to have known Connie. I met her about 4-5 years ago when I became involved with the Holy Family Church gift shop.  As I became more involved, I got to know her better.  Several times a week, I would be in her office discussing the gift shop. She was always happy and laughing. She was always appreciative of what I did and always thanked me! She encouraged me to attend the church dances which I did. My life is richer for having known her. I will truly miss her! 

Connie was a sweet beautiful  lady, she was always there to help, with a smile.  I often wondered how she did it all. She spoke with a gentle voice.  Our prayers and thoughts are with Ruben and the family.  Rest in peace. Sweet lady, time for you to dance in Gods garden. You will be missed, but never forgotten.

My best memories are when we would gather together to do some parish or personal event.  We were the hostesses for the auction dinner and Connie always was ready to help in any way needed whether it be serving, washing dishes or cleaning up.  She was one of the “aunties” for my Christine’s baby shower and we were most appreciative for her organizing it.  I am going to miss going to lunch with Connie and the other front office ladies, especially at Luby’s.  May you Rest In Peace, good and faithful servant!

Connie was a dear friend ,hard working and dedicated in every thing she did for the church. We are going to miss  you  dear, our prayers and love to Ruben and all her family!

Connie has a good heart and always want to put a smile on people’s faces. Each time we meet, we will hug and she will ask, Shirley how are you and how are your children .  Whenever I go to her about any concerns, she will say don’t worry everything will be fine Just keep that your beautiful smile. She is just an angel ! She will be missed. But the joy of it all is that she is in heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ.❤️

Connie was a very sweet person and a hard worker. She always talked about her grandkids and how they were growing up.  Plus, she took care of her husband, Ruben . I will miss her.
