

Darlane Hokanson of Meadows Place, Texas passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at the age of 84, and is now at peace with her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born on July 1, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas, to Eddie Alberthal and Nadine Easley Alberthal. She was later blessed to have a stepfather, Walter Max McCoun.
Darlane grew up in San Antonio, along with her siblings, Carolyn McCoun Shadwick and Max McCoun, Jr. She went to Thomas Jefferson High School and was a member of the Lassos, Tri-Hi-Y, and Masque and Gavel organizations in high school. After graduating in 1959, Darlane attended the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
She married and had 2 sons, Thomas and Jeffrey Jordan. She later met Fred Hokanson “Hokey”, fell in love and they married in 1972. They travelled while he was in the military, loving their time living in Turkey. When they returned to the U.S., they settled in the Meadows Place, one block over from her sister Carolyn and her family. She worked at Oshman’s Sporting Goods and built a career in their IT department. She devoted herself to her work there, becoming VP of Information Systems and making lifelong friends. She later worked at Perdue, Brandon, Fielder, Collins & Mott, LLP, as a litigation manager. Her work ethic was always strong, and she took pride in being a hard worker.
Once she retired, Darlane enjoyed playing bridge with the First Thursday Bridge Beauties in Missouri City, the Meadows Moms, the 4th Thursday Bridge Group, the 3rd Friday Otto’s Group. These ladies all became dear friends to her. She also spent these later years gardening in her backyard and doing all kinds of craft projects.
She is preceded in death by her husband Fred Hokanson (Hokey), her son Jeffrey Jordan, her father Edward Alberthal, her mother Nadine McCoun, her stepfather Max McCoun, Sr. and her brother Max McCoun, Jr.
Darlane loved being a mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her son, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her sister and brother-in-law, and nieces and nephews. They include Tom Jordan; Heather and Cody Shaw, Isabella and Cassidy; Anthony and Amanda Jordan, Sadie and Oliver; and Brieanna Hardy, Rhett, Niklaus, Aiyanna, and Xander; Carolyn and Phil Shadwick.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home at 12555 S. Kirkwood Rd. Stafford, Texas, Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
