Generosa (Grandma, Nanay, Mommy, Rose) Lanorias Rayngay, age 97, departed from this life and left us peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2024 in the comfort of her home at Huntington Village in Houston, where she was cared for with love by her daughter Annabelle Bersola.
She was the daughter of the late Isabelo and Emilia Lanorias, born on April 18, 1927 (documented May 18, 1927) in Palompon, Leyte, Philippines. She is the sister of six siblings, Mary (deceased), Jacoba (deceased), Exequila (deceased), Quita (deceased), Eugene (deceased), and Inos.
She was a graduate of Northern Leyte College and came to America in 1975 to be with her children Joseph and Annabelle.
Grandma Rose liked to work and had a few jobs since she came to America. In 1979-1988, she worked as a cashier at Woolworth. In 1993, she worked as an office associate for Communities in Schools of Houston (CIS), whose mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. And on Sundays, she babysat and cared for children at Sunday school at The Presbyterian Church. Aside from work, she would also help raise her grandchildren.
Grandma Rose was a member of USCAT (United Senior Citizen Association of Texas) and PASCOH (Philippine American Senior Citizens Organization of Houston).
Grandma Rose had many talents. She was a great seamstress, enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. She also enjoyed playing Mahjong, and dancing and performing at her senior citizen parties. Grandma Rose just enjoyed the company of her friends and family.
Grandma Rose is survived by her two children, Annabelle, Joseph and wife Myrna, her five grandchildren, JG and wife Cathy, Jeffrey and Eila, Angie and husband Don, Jaclyn and husband Kent, Charles and wife Michelle, and her nine great- grandchildren, Don (Baby Don), Aleiah, Devyn, Amilio, Maddy, Gisele, Gabriel (Ninh), Gavin, and Max
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford, with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 4:00 p.m. also in the chapel at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home.
Friends are invited to gather with the family and share memories of Generosa during a reception to be held at 6:00 p.m. in the event room at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 17 at 1:30 p.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 7720 Boone Road in Houston.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception at a venue to be announced during the services.
