
George was born in Pennsylvania and moved with his family to New Mexico as a teenager. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War, then obtained a BS in Electrical Engineering from the Indiana Institute of Technology and did graduate work at the University of New Mexico. He had a long career that included working on the space program, then in the energy sector, both at home and abroad.
George is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Beth of Sugar Land, TX; his sister Helen Montgomery Shelton of Jal, NM; his children Gerald Montgomery of Phoenix, AZ, Carol Brillinger (Matthew) of Ottawa, Ontario, and Steven Montgomery (Uyen) of Sugar Land, TX; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Georgia Montgomery and brother, Earl.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Thursday, July 10, 2014, Earthman Southwest Chapel, with a service beginning at 7:00 pm. A Graveside Service will be held at 9:45 am, Friday, July 11, 2014, Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, 77038.
