

JANICE CHRISTINE HEGARTY, entered into eternal rest after a very long and courageous battle with Breast Cancer on July 3rd at 9:03 am in Sugar Land, Texas, at her home in the loving arms of her beloved husband, Dennis Richards.
Janice grew up in Whittier, California, graduated from St. Paul high school. She also attended Fullerton College, and California State University Fullerton majoring in geology. Later in life Janice became a very accomplished gemologist and collector of antique and fine jewelry. She also mastered the 16th and 17th century cross stitch artwork and won many competitive awards and was a well recognized expert. Janice also enjoyed her fine art with many pieces from our dear and loved friends Jim and Phyllis Moore of Santa Fe New Mexico. Her Fir Folks, Winston and Wendy, two Vizslas, were another passion, and Janice became an accomplished handler showing her dogs at major dog shows in Texas and Louisiana.
Janice had a very long and successful career with Chevron for 27 years. She was well liked by all her colleagues and people she supported globally. She started her carrier at Chevrons Research Laboratories in La Habra California where Janice and Dennis met, transferring to Denver Colorado, San Ramon California, and finally Chevron USA Houston Texas. Janice’s career and her many friends at Chevron were one of the major highlights of her life. She will be missed by many who dearly loved her.
Janice is survived by her husband, Dennis Richards; son, Sean and his wife, Lana; and their 2 little ones, Blaze and Madison; daughter, Heather Richards and her husband Richard Crawford; and their two little ones, Gavin and Wyatt; her sister, Patty and her husband Dennis Conklin of California; brother, Michael Hegarty of Dallas, Texas; and his 4 children, Jennifer, Jonathan, Tiffany, and Daniel.
A Celebration of Janice’s life will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 16, 2011, Earthman Southwest Chapel, Stafford.
