

Margaret Grunett Gibson was born May 27, 1944 in Longview, Texas to Ruie B. Snoddy and George Lowell Sirls. She grew up in East Texas, and moved to the Houston area in 1954. Here she met and married Eartha Lee Gibson, Sr., and to this union, two sons, Lee and Edwin, were born.
Margaret was always a hard worker and fiercely independent. Her work experience over the years included eligibility specialist with The Texas Department of Human Services, supervisor with the United States Post Office, and owner and operator of Annie B. Snoddy Assisted Living Facilities, which was named in honor of her grandmother. Margaret's passion was helping others.
Education was also very important to her. She graduated from George Washington Carver High School in Baytown, attended Texas Southern University early in her life, and then completed her bachelor's in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2011.
Margaret loved to sing and had a strong faith. For many years, she sang with the Spirit of Carver Community Chorale, and she was very active in different ministries at Sugar Grove Church of Christ, including teaching ESL. She was baptized at an early age at and remained a faithful and dedicated Christian until God called her home on April 29, 2017.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Ruie Phillips; father, George Sirls; and brothers, Vernon and Erwin.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Lee (Ora) Gibson and Edwin Gibson; two sons that she raised, Terard Jackson and Christen Smith; two granddaughters, Marisha Gibson and Jessica Tolbert; three brothers, Felix (Paula) Sirls, Eugene (Antoinette) Sirls, and Reginald Sirls; three sisters, Patricia (James) Jackson, Sandra Sirls, and Wanda Sirls; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other very special family and friends.
