

Marilyn Jean Curtis, 84, was born on January 14, 1933 in Delavan, Illinois and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 17, 2017. Marilyn was one of 5 children born to Harriett and Wilkie Tammeus and was a graduate from San Jose High School. She earned her Bachelors of Science from Illinois State University, and Masters in Education from Texas Southern University.
Marilyn was an excellent bowler, which is how she met her husband Bobby Curtis, and they were married on September 4, 1959 at Chanute AFB in Rantoul, Illinois. They enjoyed bowling together and even won numerous individual and couples league trophies. In 1973, she and Bobby and their 3 sons moved to Corpus Christi, Texas when Bobby retired from the U.S. Air Force. In 1977, the family moved to Houston, Texas where Marilyn taught math for HISD at Attucks Middle School for over 15 years. She also was particularly gifted in helping educate those with learning disabilities.
Upon retiring from teaching in 1993, Marilyn was presented with an Outstanding Lifetime Achievement award by her family for her dedication and commitment to excellence recognizing the thousands of lives that she impacted during her 35 years in the classroom.
Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her family, baking her family's favorite chocolate chip cookies, doing crossword puzzles, watching Wheel of Fortune, attending bible study, and being active member of the United Methodist Women where she strengthened her faith in the Lord.
Marilyn is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Bobby. She is also survived by her three sons Barry and wife Debbie of Houston, Glen and wife Natalie of Sugar Land, Brian and wife Allison of Houston, step-son William and wife Anne of Round Rock, step-daughter Andria Trinkline of Houston, and seven grandchildren Christina, Sarah, Ryan, Kyle, Justin, Amy, Ella; sister Louise Carroll and husband Steve of Mackinaw, Illinois, and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved so dearly.
