

Marvin Edward Cooper completed his valiant battle with cancer and passed away on July 4, 2024 in Sugar Land, Texas at the age of 85. Marvin Cooper was born on September 29, 1939 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Betty Lou Black and Elmer Hubert Cooper.
Marvin joined his beloved mother, whose birthday was also July 4, as fireworks were starting. He also reunites with his sister Darla Sue. He is survived by his wife Margaret, his sister Vonda Lou Osborne, his children Laura, and Kyle and his wife Elizabeth, his grandchildren Sean and Jessica Bracher, Jonathan and Micaela Cooper, with nieces and nephews and other family dearly loved, and friends ranging across the country and globe.
Marvin, his mother, and sisters lived in Chickasha, Oklahoma and California for a brief time. Marvin’s mother worked at Dixie’s Restaurant, and his father was an oil rigger. Marvin married the love of his life, Margaret Rose Horn, on September 3, 1961 at Epworth Methodist Church after graduating from Chickasha High School and attending Oklahoma State University, and celebrated almost 63 years of marriage. They began their careers working on the space program with the Boeing Company at Huntsville, Alabama and in New Orleans, and having the distinguishment of both having a part in the design of spacecraft that traveled to the moon. They moved to Houston, Texas in 1977 with their children Laura and Kyle.
Marvin proudly served time in the National Guard, and was steadfastly patriotic. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with an engineering degree and became a lifelong liaison Aerospace engineer. He traveled all over the country working with noted Aerospace firms including Boeing, Sperry Sun, Lockheed Martin, and others, until retiring in 2004. Being a draftsman by profession, he designed mechanical parts and other aircraft designs, performed safety inspections, worked on helicopters, airplanes, and spacecraft. Following retirement, he volunteered with his local homeowner’s association for over 20 years, creating valued friendships.
His passions included aircraft design, history, science, and politics. He enjoyed spending time with family, watching the Astros, visiting museums, and reading. Marvin was the family historian and proudly documented much of the family history for posterity.
