

Mary Matcek, 93, of Stafford, Texas passed away on June 1, 2025. She was born in Burr, Texas on July 23, 1931, to Emil and Mary Kopecky. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Missouri City, Texas.
After graduating from Boling High School, Mary worked as a bank teller while taking college courses at Wharton Junior College in Wharton, Texas. After marriage to her husband, Frank Matcek, she became a full-time homemaker and they moved from Houston, Texas to Stafford, Texas. After her children were grown, she worked part-time at the Quail Valley Church nursery in Missouri City, Texas for many years. Mary loved to cook and had an even greater love for her family. She enjoyed chatting and catching up with friends and relatives.
Survivors include her two daughters, Donna Morgan (James Morgan); Debbie Lento (Ken Lento); one son, Mark Matcek (Heather Calhoun); two granddaughters, Kelly Matcek, Emily Matcek; three grandsons, Jake Lento, Hunter Lento, Luke Lento; one great granddaughter, Clementine Stapleton along with extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Matcek; son, Frank Matcek Jr.; three sisters, Martha Kopecky, Viola Luchak, Georgia Helmcamp; four brothers, Albert Kopecky, Joe Kopecky, Jimmy Kopecky, Bobby Kopecky.
A visitation for Mary will be held Monday, June 9 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the chapel at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford, with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will occur Tuesday, June 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2011 Briar Lane, Wharton, Texas 77488.
The Rite of Committal will follow via funeral procession to St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, 1261 Old Nada Road, Nada, Texas 77460.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held at Nada Community Center Hall, 1231 Old Nada Road, Garwood, Texas 77442.
Those serving as pallbearers during Tuesday's services are James Kopecky, Calvin Holster, Eugene Sykora, Kevin Rychlik, and Alex Munguia.
