He was born in Great Ayton, the North East of England and was the first born to Anne-Marie and John Garrard. Paul was a loving and playful child and grew up traveling the world with his parents and siblings. His childhood and adolescence was spent in England, Holland, South Africa and Texas and his lust for life came from that of his parents who believed in loving life to the fullest and exploring, absorbing and celebrating as much of the human experience as possible. From skating on the frozen canals in Holland to playing soccer and football in Texas, Paul was an athletic child who continued his love of sports as an adult, cheering on his favorite teams Manchester United and UT college football.
Paul graduated High School from the American School of The Hague and went on to study Business at The University of Texas in Austin during the early 90’s. Paul loved living in Austin and started his career in the restaurant industry during his time there. Paul enjoyed music and going to live shows. Some of his favorite past times were talking about new bands he had discovered or new books he was reading while cooking his favorite meal for you. He was known for his charm, charisma and sense of ease who always insisted on enjoying jovial times with friends and family.
Paul moved to Houston in the late 90’s where he continued his career in the restaurant and bar industry. There he met his former wife and dear friend, Peggy Sims. Paul and Peggy spent decades together as a pair raising their blended family. Paul’s proudest accomplishment was by far, when he had his Son, Seth Garrard-Lambert whom he loved more than anything. Some of Paul’s greatest memories were playing and caring for Seth as a child.
Paul had such a great sense of humor and could talk to anyone about any subject matter regardless of class, social standing, or intellect. He had a way about him that made everyone feel at ease. Paul will be remembered for his love and commitment for his family and friends, whom meant everything to him and for his insatiable love for life.
Paul is preceded in death by Anne-Marie Garrard and John Garrard, and is survived by Seth Garrard-Lambert (Son), Claire Vining (sister) and Jeff Vining (brother-in-law), Julia Vining (niece), Layton Vining (nephew), Sarah Garrard (Sister), Michael Driskill (brother-in-law), Sebastian Garrard (nephew), Oliver Driskill (nephew) and Juniper Driskill (niece).
