Ms. Benoit is survived by her sons Stephen Vance Benoit and wife Donna, Bennett Andrew Benoit and wife Nicole, and daughter Maria Michelle Benoit, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Ms. Benoit is preceded in death by her parents Murphy and Vivian Richard.
Ms. Benoit was born on August 24th, 1940 in Lafayette LA. After high school, Phyllis attended Cosmetology school and proudly graduated with honors in 1965. Doing hair was nothing new to Phyllis, she had been cutting hair and rolling perms from the time she was only 12 years old; and after a career spanning over more than 50 years, many of her clients became some of her closet friends. Being the eldest of 6 children, Phyllis knew her way around taking care of little ones, so when her own children were born, she took to the roll easily. She was extremely proud of her three children and would share her enthusiasm in their endeavors with all who would listen. Later, when she became “Nanna” life took on a whole new meaning and Phyllis managed to find even more energy and made certain she never missed an important event in their young lives; Nanna was always there. Phyllis was as feisty and as full of life as they come. She enjoyed each and every day to its fullest. Phyllis left us ALL much too soon. Her family and friends will miss her greatly.
