Reginald “Reggie” Lee Stark, 83 years old, passed away peacefully on the evening of July 6, 2025, with his son, Jeff, by his side.
Born in Beaumont, Texas, Reggie moved to Houston at an early age and discovered a love for art and storytelling that shaped his entire life. He won his first art award in third grade and never stopped creating. A romantic at heart, Reggie was not only a gifted painter but also a poet and writer. His creativity showed up in every part of his life - especially in his marriage.
Reggie met Linda Gayle Moore in their teenage years, and they married in 1962. She was the love of his life, and their 42-year marriage was rooted in love, shared passions, and unwavering commitment. Throughout their life together, Reggie wrote her a poem on nearly every anniversary, holiday, and special occasion - a tradition he continued even after her passing in 2004. Their love was his greatest inspiration, and her memory remained a guiding light for the remaining 21 years of his life.
After Linda's death, Reggie immersed himself in his art more than ever. Art became his refuge, his therapy, and his way of staying connected to the world and those he loved. His moody seascapes, nostalgic imagery, and playful touches of whimsical earned him recognition and a loyal following. He exhibited in Houston, Chicago, and throughout Texas, including shows at the Art League of Fort Bend, the Art League of Houston, Muir Fine Art Gallery, the Morton Street Gallery, the V Gallery, and the Maple Avenue Gallery. He was twice a finalist for the Hunting Art Prize and taught art classes to many students at the Art League of Fort Bend and other local spaces, sharing his knowledge of painting with others.
Reggie is preceded in death by his beloved wife Linda; his parents, Maxine and Douglas Stark; and his sister, Pam Miller.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jeff & Trang Stark; his brother & sister-in-law, Stan & Mary Stark; his nephew Stanley Stark with his wife & his children; his nephew Stephen Stark & his children; his niece Christy Watkins; his nephew Scotty Stark; and his beloved Uncle Donese. They all helped to support and care for Reggie after Linda’s passing, and their presence meant a great deal to him.
In his final years, Reggie was surrounded by extraordinary people we considered his angels. His lifelong best friend Tommy and wife Victoria remained a constant presence from afar. Devina, Kathy, and Barb shared his passion for art and brought him comfort and joy. We’re especially grateful to Christina and the Home Sweet Home team, and to his caring neighbors, Barb and Tara - we thank you.
A memorial service for Reggie will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, located at 12555 S. Kirkwood Rd, Stafford, Texas 77477.
The service will begin with a visitation at 1:00 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 2:15 p.m.
Immediately following the memorial service, a celebration of life will take place at the Art League of Fort Bend, located at 2012 Avenue G, Rosenberg, TX 77471, beginning around 3:30 p.m..
It is only fitting that we gather in a place so closely tied to Reggie’s life and work. As a teacher, exhibitor, and friend of the Art League, he found both inspiration and community there.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in Reggie's name to the Art League of Fort Bend. https://artleaguefortbend.org/donation-funnel-reg
