Richard "Dick" Hulbirt

A proud life-long Texan and UT Longhorn fan, Richard was born in Houston, moved to San Antonio, finally settling in Corpus Christi, where he grew up. He attended W.B. Ray High School and was honored with induction into the W.B. Ray Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005.

He earned a football scholarship, attended The University of Texas and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Richard was a prominent figure in the mortgage loan servicing industry for over four decades. His distinguished career included 27 years at Gulf Coast Investment Corporation as Senior Vice President, as well as executive roles at Farm and Home Savings, Transworld Mortgage, and Litton Loan Servicing.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Constance Hulbirt, and his brother, Gary Hulbirt, all of Corpus Christi, Texas.

He was married to his Sigma Chi college sweetheart and the love of his life, Linda Mills Hulbirt, on June 20, 1964, in Rockport, Texas. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, dedication, and love.

Richard is survived by his wife, Linda; their daughter, Shelly Lynn Hulbirt, and her son, Riley Cole, of Houston; and their son, Richard Scott Hulbirt, his wife Kristie, and their children, Willow Avery and Bane Jameson, also of Houston.

A visitation will be held at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, located at 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

The Funeral Mass is scheduled for Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 11:00 am at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, at 9900 Stella Link Road in Houston.

The interment will take place at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. , located at 12800 Westheimer Road in Houston.

Immediately following the interment, all are invited to the greet the family during a reception to be held at the families residence.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Bussone, Mike Mauldin, Jerry Pinto, Gary Rundgren, Gary Smith, Joe Stiles and Tommy Wright.
