Roy E. Burger

ROY EMIL BURGER, age 97, passed away July 6, 2016. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Roy was born on June 3, 1919 in Altair, Texas. After graduating high school from Columbus, Texas, Roy was drafted into the Army on May 18, 1942. While proudly serving his country with the 101st Airborne Division, Roy was awarded three Battle Stars, a Bronze Star with two oak leaf clusters, a Combat Infantry Badge, and a Combat Jump Device with two stars. After his military service, Roy and his brothers opened Burger’s Cleaners, a dry cleaning business. He married the love of his life, Justine Burger, and raised two children, John Burger and Elaine Johnson. Roy is survived by daughter Elaine Johnson and husband Tim; grandchildren, Brian Pierce, Christine Anzaldua and Justin Burger; daughter-in-law, Rita Burger. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Justine Burger, beloved son, John Burger, and nine brothers and sisters. Visitation will be Monday, July 11, 2016 from 5PM to 8PM at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 12:30PM at Holy Family Catholic Church 1510 5th St. in Missouri City, TX 77489. Interment will follow with honors at Davis Greenlawn Cemetery.
