

SHIRLEY LORRAINE BOUDREAUX was born on October 9, 1919, in Westlake, Louisiana. She died peacefully in her 93rd year while at rest at her daughter Dona’s house at 1:33 AM on April 24, 2012. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Morrison Boudreaux, with whom she celebrated their 60th anniversary before his death; also preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Maurice and Marie Mabel Carver, nee Fournet; her brothers, James and Floyd Carver, Jr.; and her sister, Susan Latta. She is survived by her sister, Anna Celine Larue of Lafayette, LA.; and sister-in-law, Mary Lou Carver of Westlake, LA. Shirley was untiringly devoted to her Roman Catholic Church, her husband and her children. She was never heard to complain about the role she had to embrace but instead rejoiced in it and was grateful for her life as she had chosen to live it. Children always lit up her life from her first child, Shirley Ann, to her last great grandchild, Cate, her 54th. Shirley met Frank while working in Muller’s Department Store in Lake Charles. They married in 1937 and moved into a 3 bedroom house owned by and adjacent to Frank’s family home on East Street. 6 of their first 7 children were born while living in this house, their third child, Dona, was born in Savannah, GA, during WWII, and the last 3 children were Houstonians, the city that was their residence and final resting spot from 1956 until their deaths. Shirley birthed 10 children from the years 1940 through 1963, all of whom survive her. They are Shirley Ann Marmande and husband Burt, of Houma, LA; Susan Lynette Christ and husband Lu, of Houston; Dona Marie Clay and husband Albert, of Sugar Land; Frances Lorraine Benesh, of Plano; Glen Morrison Boudreaux and wife Honi, of Houston; Mary Katherine Graham and husband Glenn, of Houston; Frank Gary Boudreaux of Lake Charles, LA; Daniel Allen Boudreaux and partner Manfred, of Vancouver, Canada; Jennifer Louise Boudreaux, of The Brookwood Community; and Paula Christine Steakley and husband David, of Houston. Shirley is survived by her 22 grandchildren: Suzette Marmande; Ben Mandande and wife Tracie; Ann Marie Frenzel and husband Michael; Jean Marmande and wife Casey; Bryan Christ and fiancé’ Stacey; Stacy Christ; Cami Goff and husband John; Charles Christ and wife Evans; Robert Clay and wife Emily; Gregory Clay and wife Martha; Jennifer Wells and husband Matthew; Andrew Benesh and wife Julie; Elizabeth Coffman and husband Christopher; Frank Boudreaux, II and wife Meagan; John Henry Bourdeaux; Alexander Graham; Angela Guidry and husband Christian; Timothy Boudreaux; and Joe, Sam, Claire, and Grace Steakley. She is also survived by her 22 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Meredith, Benjamin, Cooper, Cate, Lucie, Lily, Madeline, Sara, Catherine, Will, Juliet, Meredith, Eloise, Klayton, Madison, Ashlyn, Will, Blake, Henry, Robert, and Adair. The family is eternally grateful to her caregivers and medical attendants. A Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, on Friday, April 27, 2012, at Earthman Southwest Chapel, Stafford, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Sugar Land. Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, Houston. In lieu of flowers, it is hoped that donations will be made to The Brookwood Community, 1752 FM 1489, Brookshire, TX 77423 (www.brookwoodcommunity.org).
