

Shirley Kay White Davidson, 79, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with The Lord on May 26, 2013 in Houston, Texas. She was born on April 26, 1934 in Houston, Texas to John Laurens and Lucile Mitchiner White. Shirley graduated from Lamar High School in Houston, Texas in 1952. She later attended the Zorn Business School and became an insurance agent for Ammons Insurance Agency.
She was married to Sam Davidson in Houston, Texas on June 5, 1952 and enjoyed a sixty year marriage of love and laughter. Sam was in the Air Force in Washington State when they married. He was discharged in 1953 and they moved back to Houston and had two children: Dan, born in 1953 and Dayna, born in 1958. They were active members of St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church, which was a major part of their lives for over 50 years. In addition to teaching Sunday School and participating in many other church volunteer opportunities, Shirley was an ordained elder.
Shirley loved to dance, listen to music, travel, cook, sew, play bridge and share her love of life with people. She also loved the Oilers and Texans games on football Sundays and rarely missed a game. Her greatest joys in life were from her relationships with her family and church.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Sam Davidson, son, Dan Davidson and wife Kristine, daughter, Dayna Burnett and husband Bob, grandchildren, Lydia and Emily Davidson and Lauren and Carolyn Burnett; brother and sister-in-laws William and Ann Davidson and Jerry and Maureen Davidson. She was an inspiration and joy to the entire family and will be greatly missed.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2013 at Earthman Funeral Home Southwest. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church, 8915 Timberside, Houston, Texas with Reverend W. Scott Harbison officiating. Interment to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. A reception following interment will be held at Bayou Manor, 4141 South Braeswood, Houston, Texas at 12:30 p.m.
Memorial gifts in Shirley’s name can be made to St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church or to the Bayou Manor Resident’s Association.
