Tommie Jean Proctor

Tommie Jean Proctor, 97 passed away November 14, 2017 at the Medical Resort in Sugar Land, Texas. She was born on July 11, 1920 to Jesse Franklin McLain & Annie Peterson McLain. Tommie Jean grew up in Nacogdoches, Texas and was the eldest of five siblings (Marceil, Jesse, JoAnn, Jessica). She is proceeded by her only daughter Judy Carolyn Robinson, her son-in-law Rob Robinson and only grand-daughter Terri Lynn Robinson.

She married John Finn Proctor in Nacogdoches, Texas on December 22, 1939. They were happily married for 47 years until his death on February 14, 1986. They were members of Woodridge Baptist Church for many years. They were very involved in the church and John was a Deacon. Upon their relocation to Meadows Place, Texas to be closer to family, they became members of Heritage Baptist Church where Tommie Jean later established a Seniors Sunday School Class.

They owned a few companies during their marriage: Proctor Wholesale Lumber, Patty Cake Company and Real Estate investment properties. She assisted the daily operations of the businesses they owned, as well as being a fulltime mother. They enjoyed cooking and baking as a family. She never met a Jell-O mold that she did not like, but pies were her absolute favorite.

In her most recent years, what Tommie enjoyed most was attending church, talking to her friends, and listening to the Gospel on television. Tommie loved to shop and get dressed up and took pride in her appearance, even wearing heals until just a few years ago.

Tommie loved life and remained energetic during her later years. She was devout Christian who was active in the church. She had a spunky, quick witted attitude towards life and will be missed by her family and friends.

Family, friends and others whose lives Tommie touched are invited to the Earthman Funeral Home 12555 S Kirkwood Rd, Stafford, TX 77477, for visitation from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017 and the service at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 to reminisce, grieve, and support each other and, of course, just chat. She will be laid to rest next to her husband John Finn Proctor at Nacogdoches Sunset Cemetery, 5127 North St, Nacogdoches, TX 75965 at 3:00 following the service.
