Vicente Omar Garcia was born on August 21, 1939 in the city of Manta Ecuador in South America. He passed away in his home in Sugar Land Texas one graceful afternoon on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. His final days were filled with family and friends cherishing and reminiscing on days past. He was the last of eight children born to his mother Luz Maria Merchan and father Mariano Jose Garcia. He talked about Mamita and Papito (Mom and Dad) with such fondness all his life. His brothers and sisters were Eduardo, Apolonia, Amarillis, Elliana, Luis, Vitalia and Belgica (Olivia) Garcia. Olivia and Vicente were like Peanut Butter and Jelly – being the last two siblings of the eight; they were always together and never far apart from each other for too long. He married a beautiful brunette Mariana Garcia in 1963. One of the first (OF MANY) promises he would keep to her was “until death do us part”-being married to Mariana for 60 years until his death.
Vicente dreamed about migrating to the United States with his wife. Through dedication and hard work, they obtained their visa and entered the country at the age of 29. Now their dream was to work hard, earn money and start a family of their own. They welcomed two children. Vincent and Tania. Vincent was his successor and clung to his father's every word. Tanita was his little princess he promised to gift Pearls and Gold too. In Brooklyn, New York, he left to work, rain or shine or snowstorm, to make money for his family. Soon, that was not enough - he wanted more. He set his eyes on Houston, Texas because New York was not suitable enough to raise children. Therefore, he and Mariana set another bar...another dream. They moved to Houston in 1990. He used his Industrial Mechanic skills to land a job at Hendee Enterprises. His knowledge was utilized and appreciated here. He became a loyal employee for many years. His passion was to be the head of a family he could be proud of. He emanated justice, loyalty to those he loved and always taught us to “just do the right thing”; do not hold grudges and “sigue pa’lante”.
He is survived by his wife, Mariana Garcia; his son, Vicente Garcia and his wife Yvette Garcia; his daughter Tania Camacho and her husband Jose Camacho; his grandchildren, Christian Garcia, Evan Rivera, David Rivera, Catalina Garcia, Natalia Garcia, Sergio, Nicholas and Alexander Camacho.
