Barbara “Barb” Jane Zicarelli (nee Demos), 69, of Triangle, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 22nd, 2023 after an extended illness. Born on January 22, 1954, she was the daughter of the late George James Demos and Jeannette Eden Demos and was also preceded in death by her brother, Brian David Demos.
Barb received her primary education at Central Bucks East High School, then went on to receive her college education at Dickinson College, graduating in 1976 with a bachelor’s degree in history. Barb met her future husband Tom at Dickinson in 1972, finally getting married 13 years later in 1984, after lots of pursuing and cajoling on Tom’s part!
Barb enjoyed a variety of hobbies, from gardening to antiquing (a long time favorite!), to reading and decorating her house for every holiday. She loved socializing with her friends and was the host of countless parties. It was not underheard of for Barb to go out of her way for a friend or a stranger, and she could often be found sending cards or gifts to lift someone’s spirit. For every holiday or special occasion, you could be sure to receive a card from Barb. Barb was kindhearted to a fault and will forever be remembered as generous, caring, and compassionate.
Most of all, Barb was family oriented and dedicated countless hours to her family. She maintained a spotless home and never failed to stay involved in her daughter and husband’s activities. She enjoyed going on vacations with her family, especially to the beach. In recent years, until Barb’s health started to decline, Barb and Tom both operated their own antique booths and enjoyed shopping together for treasures to resell. Even as her health worsened in recent years, she maintained a positive attitude through the trials that she faced.
Barb is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 39 years, Major Thomas J. Zicarelli, USA, Ret.; daughter, Laura E. Zicarelli (Brian); beloved cat, Morrie Amsterdam; sister, Christina L. Kull (George); sisters-in-law, Linda M. Zicarelli and Jane M. Zicarelli-Knaub and their families; as well as other extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 186 Shelton Shop Road, Stafford. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Quantico National Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Mercy and Rissa, who have provided care, support, and guidance over the past several years, as well as Compassus Hospice.
