She was born at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC. October 20, 1944. She was a loving wife, mother to two and grandmother to four.
“BA” as she was known to loved ones, is survived by her devoted husband William Buchholz, children Wesley Alan Parmer, Laura Lee Parmer Robins and husband Rob, her four grandchildren, Lara, River, Ryder, and Canon, sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Gail (Gordon), Nancy Jane (David), and Nora Lee (Richard), and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Stanley Morley Berdine and Mary Catherine Sullivan Berdine.
A 1962 graduate of McLean High School, Bettieanne sang in the choir and participated in the drama department. After graduation she served with the Central Intelligence Agency for more than 20 years and then continued her career as an office administrator in the government sector. Nobody really knows what she did with the CIA, but she typically referred to her boss as “Yoda”, and the force was strong in her.
BA had a passion for supporting wildlife and open-space conservation, to include years of advocating for the sensitive and endangered wetlands of Horsepen Run along the Potomac River in Loudoun County, VA. Her love of the great outdoors was known by many. Throughout her life she was an avid camper, hiker and birdwatcher, joys shared equally with her husband and passed onto her children at a young age. BA was an avid volunteer with the National Wildlife Federation, Boys Scouts of America, and other organizations, and particularly enjoyed leading youth nature hikes, sharing her knowledge and inspiring countless children to grow their own passion for conservation.
