Beverly Pennebaker Williams

The daughter of Dr. James L. Haney, DDS and Jo Patton Haney of Pontotoc, Mississippi.

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, David Walter Williams in 2013.

She is survived by her sister, Kathy Haney Springfield and her husband Dan Springfield and their daughters, Katie and Sissy; and by her son, Thomas “Chris” Pennebaker and his wife, Kristin Pennebaker and their three children, Wyatt Pennebaker, Mackenzie Pennebaker and Samantha Pennebaker.

Beverly was the valedictorian of her high school graduating class in Pontotoc, Mississippi and later earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi. Beverly was the first female Director of Human Resources for Jefferson Parish, Louisiana after spending many years working in various positions in government.

Beverly fought long, hard and bravely against lung cancer for over three years and was a participant in a first-in-human drug trial which required weekly treatments. The results she had were remarkable and helped result in the experimental drug moving forward with testing on a broader basis. Her contributions will allow others with similar conditions to receive a treatment which may help extend their lives.

She made a difference for her family, friends and for strangers she will never meet and their families.
