

Charles Hunter Bowman III slipped away to eternal rest on February 13, 2022, in Stafford, Virginia. Charles was born March 10, 1960, in East Orange, New Jersey. He was the second of four born to Viola Thomasine Bowman and the late Charles Hunter Bowman II.
Charles received his early education in the East Orange Public School System. He attended East Orange High School before deciding to serve his country. He attended boot camp in Camp Lejeune, NC in 1976 and became a full fledge corporal in the United States Marine Corp. He served on active duty in Okinawa, Japan. While in the USMC Charles received his high school diploma. In 1980, he was honorably discharged from active duty, but continued to serve as a Reservist where he obtained the rank of a Sergeant. Charles matriculated at Montclair State University and received his Associate Degree in Industrial Management in 1987.
Charles was blessed with two children, Jameel and Hassan, from a previous relationship. He enjoyed spending vacation with them, and he looked forward to their annual trip to the Dominican Republic.
After spending most of his life in New Jersey, Charles moved to Maryland, and thereafter to Pennsylvania. He returned to Maryland and then eventually settled in Virginia. In 2003 he met his greatest love, Carol. Charles and Carol married in 2008 and they were a match made in heaven. Not only were they husband and wife, but best friends and inseparable. Charles and Carol’s love for traveling inspired many cruises and vacations to the Caribbean, as well as the United Kingdom and Europe.
Charles worked over 40 years in the sales and installation of audio-video systems, and residential and commercial security systems. He began as an installation technician and rose through the ranks and worked in various leadership positions, including Installation Supervisor at Audio International Company; Operations Manager at Brinks Home Security; Regional Installation Manager at Slomin’s Shield Security; and Custom Home Sales Manager at ADT Security Services. As a result of his USMC training and his many years in the security systems industry he was recognized as an expert in his field. During his career he obtained his license as a Master Electrician, and he was certified by the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association as an Instructor. Charles was passionate about his work, especially training and developing personnel. He was an excellent Manager and received various awards such as Manager of the Year, Club X Awardee, Five-time Centurion Club recipient, Most Units Sold Award and a host of other accolades. He thoroughly enjoyed and loved his job.
Charles had a good life with treasured memories. He was well known for his kindness and generosity. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. His greatest pleasure was camping, traveling, watching movies and sports, especially his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Charles leaves a legacy of good deeds and good works. He will be greatly missed and remembered by all who loved him dearly.
Charles was preceded in death by his brother Eric Bowman. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Carol Bowman; mother Viola Bowman; two sons, Jameel Hinton and Hassan Bowman (Nancy); two sisters, Tanya Bowman and Toi Bowman-Johnson; brother Allen Miller (Avonia); four grandchildren, Jamil Hinton, Jalen Hinton, Joi Bowman and Riley Bowman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
