

Duane was born September 20, 1967, in Fredericksburg, VA, to Arthur Carroll Sampson Jr., and Sandra Kay Blackman Sampson.
After high school graduation, Duane married the love of his life, Patricia Hogan Sampson, and they shared thirty-six years of marriage. They were blessed with two children, Rachel Ann Sampson and Anthony Carroll Sampson. He was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, extended family and friends.
Duane was preceded in death by his daughter, Rachel Ann Sampson; and his father, Arthur Carroll Sampson Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Hogan Sampson; their son, Anthony Carroll Sampson; his mother, Sandra Blackman Sampson; his brother, William Todd Sampson; his niece, Kaitlyn Michelle Sampson; his nephew, Cody Arthur Sampson; and his brother-in-law, Charles David Hogan.
While growing up, Duane made many friends from childhood, school, and throughout his career. He played county sports, loved performing with his high school chorus, and pursued a career in information technology until his retirement from Fairfax County Public Schools. Many of the friendships he developed along the way continued throughout his lifetime.
Duane was an avid Washington Redskins/Commanders football and Washington Capitals hocky fan. He and his brother, Todd were best friends and enjoyed rooting for their favorite teams and hunting & fishing together with their sons. Duane served as a Boy Scout Leader and he and his son enjoyed many activities and camping trips with the Boy Scouts.
Duane loved God, his family, and his Country with all his heart. He will also be missed by many cousins and friends, but especially by his aunt and uncle, Jami Blackman Ours and Anthony Ours; and his mother-in-law, Winnie Hogan.
Duane’s unwavering kindness, loyalty, and faith left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He approached life with a joyful spirit, a ready smile, and a willingness to help others in need. His presence brought light to countless lives, and his memory will live on in the hearts of family and friends. A celebration of his life will honor the extraordinary man he was and the love he so generously shared with those around him.
A visitation for Duane will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel. His celebration of life will begin at 11am with his burial to follow at Stafford Memorial Park, 154 Shelton Shop Road, Stafford, Virginia.
