Born on November 7, 1940, Betsy grew up in Collinsville, Connecticut and lived most of her life in Sandwich and Chatham, MA, on Cape Cod. She was a graduate of Framingham State University and spent many years as a dedicated high school mathematics teacher in Plymouth, Massachusetts, where she was known for her quiet competence and steady commitment to her students.
She was predeceased by her husband, Grattan Gill (2016); her sister, Philippa (2016); and her brother, Paul (2025). She is survived by her son, Peter Gill, and his wife Joni, her grandchildren, Steven and Caroline, as well as her sister, Margaret.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers or cards, Betsy would have preferred that donations be made to your local library.
