

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Eugene R. Tanguay, age 79, on May 2, 2026. Eugene was born on March 14, 1947, in Manhattan, NY. He was adopted by Henry and Lydia Parent, both employed on the base.
Eugene was raised in Long Branch, NJ, where he enjoyed working at the Ft. Monmouth Army Base Commissary as a young adult. He loved spending time with friends at the beach as well. And appreciated all genres of music.
He decided to join the United States Marine Corps on October 13, 1966. Eugene trained dogs in detecting explosives and completed a tour in Vietnam. Then, he was stationed at Camp LeJeune, NC, where he served in enlisted ranks and learned motion picture photography. In that capacity, Eugene was transferred to Quantico, VA. While in the military, in addition to Vietnam, he served two additional tours- one in Okinawa, Japan and the other in 29 Palms, CA. On March 31, 1987, Eugene retired as combat camera chief. He served 21 years and was honorably discharged.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Melissa Anderson and their daughter, Kelly Anderson; his daughter, Tricia Kerstetter and her husband, Aaron Kerstetter; his grandchildren, Caleb Kerstetter and Brody Kerstetter and his first wife, Pat Tanguay.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Tanguay.
