
Our Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin Eva Mae White Harris fell quietly asleep in her home surrounded by family on Monday, February 5, 2024, and she woke up in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus. God blessed Eva to be a blessing to others, and her life reflected that.
Eva Mae was born in Danville, Virginia, on October 12, 1943, to the late Reverend Harry White and Rosetta Bowman White; she was the eldest child of four. In 1959 She married the late Reverend Randolph Collins Harris Sr. they celebrated 62 years of marriage together from that union, they raised 5 children.
Eva Mae’s faith journey began at a young age as she was raised in the church. Her father, Reverend Harry White, pastored Holy Tabernacle Church in Danville, Virginia, and sister location in Alexandria, Virginia. Her life was dedicated to ministry; she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the early age of 4. She faithfully served in her father’s ministry in Danville and Alexandria, Virginia.
Eva Mae lived a life of service, working as a registered nurse. She traveled all over the Northern Virginia region caring for patients in the hospital as a charge nurse, in-home as a private duty nurse, and for the Alexandria Health Department, where she ultimately retired. She received many accolades and letters of appreciation from patients, families, and hospital executive leadership.
Eva Mae received her high school diploma from Thomas A. Edison High School, her Bachelor of Nursing from George Mason University, and then went on to graduate from Faith Christian Bible Institute in 2000.
Eva Mae was a prayer warrior and intercessor. Every morning at 4 am, she would call out each of her family members by name, covering them in prayer. Besides reading the bible and talking about the goodness of God to her daughters of the faith, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Eva Mae opened her home to the community. She enjoyed hosting family dinners, holidays, and large cookouts. In her quiet time, when she was not reading the bible, she enjoyed painting, crocheting, and singing her favorite praise and worship songs. Eva Mae Harris was a warm, loving, hospitable, and caring woman of God. Her life was devoted to teaching, nurturing, and supporting her family, friends, and those in the community. She was lovingly known by many as Aunt Eva or Mother Harris.
Eva Mae is preceded in death by her parent's, Reverend Harry and Rosetta White; loving husband, Reverend Randolph Collins Harris Sr.; brother, Hilton White; sister, Lucy Ann White Mincey; aunt Rebecca Bowman Nelson; uncle, Clint Lee Bowman; and granddaughter, Tatyanna Mae Early.
She is survived by five children, Sharon Harris Blackwell (Lawrence), Randolph Collins Harris, Jr., Pamela Mae Harris, Brady Collins Harris, Tameka Mae Franklin; her grandchildren, Philip Moon, Lachea Michelle Harris, Gavin Donte Harris, Nahon David Belay, Nakayla Angel Harris, Daniel Lorenzo Franklin, Derek Lorenzo Franklin; her three great-grandchildren, Galen, Simon, and Dylan Moon; her baby sister and best friend, Regina Mincey (Arzo), her beloved uncle, James (Sandra) and host of cousins, nephews, nieces, friends, neighbors and special prayer partner, Launarene Morgan (Keith) .
The celebration of life will be Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 12:00, at Zion Church of Fredericksburg located at 2222 Emancipation Hwy, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22401 (off Wellington Lakes Drive). The viewing will be from Noon to 1pm and the service will start immediately after viewing.
