Born June 19, 1950 in Washington, D.C. Jeanna was preceded in death by her parents Arnold M. and Quida Lutes Benefield and her brother Ronald R. Benefield.
The family moved to Vienna, Va. where Jeanna graduated from James Madison High School in 1968. She then enlisted in the U.S. Army where she proudly served for 13 years. Her rank of SP5 took her to Hawaii and Italy as well as the mainland USA. After her military service she worked at places like Target and 7-11 in addition to owning her own small business in Fredericksburg.
She loved nature especially fishing, the mountains and the beach where she spent time with her grandmother in the areas of Cape May and Wildwood New Jersey. When she wasn’t traveling she would spend most of her time with her brother Ronnie until his death in 2016.
Jeanna’s strong faith and love of the Lord was an inspiration to all her friends and everyone she met. She was a member of Richland Baptist Church in Hartwood, Va. where an informal service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday May 22nd, 2024 at 2:00pm. Visitation will start at 1:00pm. Light refreshments in the church fellowship hall will follow the service. All are welcome to attend and share (or just listen to) stories and memories of Jeanna.
