

She was born on November 29, 1942 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Norman and Anne (Danahy) Moquin.
Joan Marie Noonan was many things over her lifetime. She was a devout Catholic, a devoted and loving wife to her husband of 64 years, Thomas Noonan, a wonderful mother to six children, a Mother-in-Law, a Grandma and a great Grandma. She was a loving daughter, a sister, and the oldest of 15 siblings. Joan was a supportive Marine Corps military spouse for over 31 years. She raised their children while her Marine served two tours in Vietnam and four tours in Okinawa, Japan. She endured many military moves throughout his career, while always establishing a loving home for her family. Joan was known for her compassion, fighting spirit, and staunch advocacy of her family. In her spare time and during retirement, Joan enjoyed playing bingo and rooting for her favorite sports teams. She was THE biggest Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, and New England Patriots fan!! Joan will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Predeceased by her parents; six siblings: Robert Moquin, Carol Ames, John Moquin, Daniel Moquin, Richard Moquin and Thomas Moquin; two brothers-in-law: William McDonough and John Cadotte; one sister-in-law, Marjorie Whitney; and two sons: Thomas P. Noonan and Trevor P. Noonan.
Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years, Thomas Peter Noonan; three sons: Timothy P. Noonan and wife Judy, Darby James Noonan and wife Wendy, Shawn P. Noonan and wife Tina; one daughter: Tina M. Noonan; eight siblings: Sandra McDonough, James Moquin and wife Margaret, William Moquin and wife Cynthia, Elizabeth Cadotte, Claire Schneider and husband Richard, Laura Moquin, Cynthia Lively and husband Paul and Jacqueline Moquin-Vaudo and husband Daniel; 12 grandchildren; six great grandchildren and many numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 1, 2024 from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, 186 Shelton Shop Road, Stafford, VA 22554. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to: American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023 in loving memory of Joan Marie Noonan.
