Katherine Marie (Kvaternick) Kistner, beloved matriarch of her family, passed peacefully at her home, with loved ones, on December 27, 2018 at the age of 79.
Born to John Ivan Kvaternick and Rose Marie (Oberster) Kvaternick on August 5, 1939 in Crested Butte, Colorado, Katherine was one of eight siblings.
Though her dream to become a nurse was never fulfilled, instead choosing to devote her life to her children and husband, she did eventually gain a career in the medical field as a Certified Nursing Assistant, caring for "the older generation" in nursing homes and serving her community as an at-home visiting CNA.
Katherine is preceded in death by six sisters and one brother; by her husband, Albert Thomas Kistner; by a son, Joseph Kistner; and by a grandson, Daniel Kistner. She is survived by two sons: Robert Kistner of Stafford, Virginia and Albert Kistner and his wife, Christina Kistner, of Stafford, Virginia; by a daughter, Katherine Kistner-Childs and her husband, Jerry Childs, of Holiday, Florida; by six grandchildren: Adrienne (Mann) Furr and her husband, Brian of Spotsylvania, Virginia; Carrie Kistner Murphy and her husband, Rob, of Fredericksburg, Virginia; AJ Kistner of Stafford, Virginia; Jerika Kistner and Jaden Childs, both of Holiday, Florida and Jacob Kistner of Stafford, Virginia; and by three great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
A Funeral Service will be held at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel, Friday, January 4, 2019, beginning at 2:00pm with a visitation one hour prior. Graveside service to immediately follow at Stafford Memorial Park.
